SOLD Newly Completed, Handmade, Hand-Carved McLeod Banjo £950 plus postage.

This banjo has now been sold , for information on new models please contact me .

Hi ya , this is a very interesting little banjo. It was intended to be the start of a new model line but I got a bit carried away with it 🙂 .
This is a wooden top banjo , 11 inch pot. The pot is block construction . It’s made out of Australian she oak with cocobolo for the tone ring and the rim cap . It’s very striking and projects well for a woody.

The neck is sycamore , with a beautiful flame in it. If your not familiar with sycamore it’s a very close relative to maple . So close, in fact , I believe in the states they generally just label it as maple. It’s traditionally used for the back of fiddles.
Fingerboard is a lovely piece of AAA quality ebony , with a satin wood strip underneath.
Peghead is back strapped with ebony , front veneer is also ebony and is inlayed with mop ‘ man in the moon ‘ .
At the other end of the neck there’s a carved heel , ebony heel cap and a Birdseye maple dowel stick.
The banjo is fitted with a stained goat skin vellum that’s very stable.
This banjo comes with a slightly tatty but very useable hard case to protect it during postage .
This really is a very pretty little banjo that punches way above its weight . I’ve listed some other spec below . Please excuse photos , I couldn’t switch the flash off ! 🙂
